A resource for colleagues, interco and employees

[CC du val d’Amour (Jura) 24 communes • 9 100 hab.] Carried by the municipal community of Val d’Amor, third place in Chambal (425 inhabitants), affiliated with the Reliance D’Enterprise (1), Two double offices, three single offices, a meeting room for 20 to 40 people and a lounge, all equipped with WiFi, photocopiers and scanners. Opened in November 2019, it is 80% occupied, according to Interco.

The relevance of a peer-to-peer location in Chambly has been verified by the Relais d’entreprises study office. “We weren’t taking any risks, the building was ours,” said Remy Gauthier, general manager of Interco Services. At the beginning of the operation, the first tenants lived within a 10-kilometer radius of the village: “We had a web designer, an alternative medicine professional …” Remy Gauthier explained.

A psychologist, two lawyers, an engineer …

When it reopened in the spring of 2020 after the first captivity, the third place gained momentum. “We have regulars: a psychologist who started his career in June, two Parisian lawyers who come to their second home three weeks a month, a mechanical engineer from a Paris start-up, two people who make travel products and live there part-time, Remy. Gauthier explains: “Sometimes there are people who come one or two days a week: tourists from Essonne, Vendée or Switzerland do exclusive telework.”

There are still a few places left for occasional telecommuters and one or two regular occupants. The advent of fiber in early 2021 could only strengthen the attraction of space: “Even if our teleworkers have fiber in their homes, they are looking through peer space to communicate with others”, observes Remy Gauthier.

But the municipal community believes that improvements can be made: “Of course, there is a restaurant in Chambly, but the leisure center is open but lacks other services (early childhood, youth, adulthood, etc.). With a new school group in January 2021,” He mentions.

Multimodal hub

Remy Gauthier thinks it’s too early to say whether teleworking (at home or in the co-worker’s place) has allowed Interco’s population growth: “However, land and real estate are going fast, prices are so volatile.”

Interco is considering locating two new partners in the medium term, one to the west of its territory, in Mont-Sus-Voudre (near the bus station), the other to the east, in Mauchard, where the TGV station and a multimodal. Exchange hubs are planned for 2022, as well as annexes offering one or two temporary offices in a few villages.

“It’s up to us to take advantage of opportunities in public buildings, for example, to take advantage of schools that will be free when school groups appear,” said Remy Gauthier.

“I have to get out of my daily life.”

Cedric Lincoln, Mechanical engineer and permanent telecom worker

“I have been doing homework for a Paris-based company since 2017, and my boss accepted the offer. Several reasons led me to join a co-worker in Chambal, 2 km from my home: captivity and the difficulty of working with children at home, the crowd of my two 3D printers at home, the need to get out of my daily life and a social life. In addition, we were hiring someone who was not easy to train from a distance. In September 2020, I rented a double office for the two of us in a well-equipped co-op location with fiber. The company pays a rent of 300 euros per month, excluding taxes. A
