Cahors: An open season for theater lovers

The 27th edition of Theater Lovers Festival will be held again this year at the Cairo Theater from May 25 to 28, 2022.

After a three-year absence, the theater lovers are once again at the festival. From Wednesday, May 25 to Saturday, May 28, 10 selected companies from France and abroad will be present. The festival is committed to offering eclectic content for their visitors. “The purpose of the festival is to diversify the content for our audience, and at the same time bring together the different worlds of each selected troupe,” confirmed Gerard Casagrande, who is in charge of organizing the festival.

Like the show

“We’ve already participated in more than 70 closely selected plays,” said Gerard Cassagrande. “Our choice falls on 10 of them, including a new one, proposed by the Grand Cahours Music and Theater Archive.” “The festival has taken care to diversify its content. We have not based ourselves on a genre in general. You will be able to find comedy, drama, detective fantasy, etc.” The head of the organization added.

Original price

At the end of the festival 4 prizes will be distributed to congratulate the actors. The first is the “Cairo City Prize” awarded by a jury of professionals in the trade. The second is the “Young Jury Prize” served by young people from the Theater Conservatory. 3rd “Public Price Pierre Larroque”. Here, visitors can choose for themselves who will receive their award. “During each show, fifty daisies will be distributed and the public will be able to note these,” Gerard Cassagrand added. The fourth prize has a national chance because it is the “Midi-Pyrenees Choice Place Award”. The jury members will determine the play that will be able to represent the former Midi-Pyrenees region during the national drama competition to be held in November 2022 near the tour.
