Thirty years of age: the age of maturity! By the end of 2021, the youngest of the major French management schools have celebrated this anniversary with a series of innovations, both related to its program and its research and its student support. Irrigates the three pillars of the whole school, namely its international, responsible and innovative dimensions.
An increasing multidisciplinary and hybrid dimension
The concept of Renaissance SB’s motto “Unframeless Thinking” is closely related to the hybridization of skills. “To train tomorrow’s managers in a complex world, we need to move beyond management structures to courses that are primarily open to social innovation,” explained Elody Hurray, director of the Grande Ecole program (PGE). For this reason, from their first year, students are invited to choose one of three course colors that reflect one of the three main challenges facing our organization and society: the major social prism: environment, geopolitics and technology / cyber security. In the 2nd year, “Curiosity Pack” has broadcast lessons based on hybridization innovation partnership in geopolitics, artificial intelligence, data science, entrepreneurship, design, eco-innovation … Renaissance SB. There are 44 specialties that their final year students can choose from. They can Go to one of the 14 double-degree masters offered by the school, such as the MSc in Creative Project Management, Culture and Design that opened with the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Bretagne or the MSc Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Insa Reindeer. This year IMT signed a dual engineer-manager degree agreement with Atlantic and Eisen. As well as a double certification with the Comparative Philosophy Institute.
This multidisciplinaryity is also driven by an influential research policy, identified in March 2022 with the creation of the Center for Unframed Thinking (CUT), the world’s first institute for advanced study based on a business school. CUT focuses on the study of ecology, environment and energy sciences and technology, especially at the center of its scientific program. 2022 also created the Renaissance Metropole Chair “Operational Model and Artificial Intelligence for Disaster Management”, which has been added to the two teaching chairs already present in Geopolitics and Cyber Risk Governance.
An incentive to work-study to open the Paris campus
At the beginning of the 2021 academic year, Renes SB opened a 1,500 m2 campus in the center of the capital. An extension that doubles the offer of the PGE Work-Study program. “Through this campus, we are going to offer three new masters of this kind: International Finance, Strategy and Digital Marketing and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, with a modified model for adopting a skills-based approach,” Elodie Hurre noted. Renaissance will include three courses already offered: Innovative Project Manager, Digital and Business Management, and Retail and Business Development. A new location that will make life easier for work-study students, many of whom have contracts in the Paris area.
At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, Rennes SB will offer a total of 850 work-study contracts, double that of 2020-2021. In PGE, this formula can be completed from PGE2 to M1 and M2 alternately or only in PGE3, in the classic format after PGE2 and in a “company” gap year (optional). Renaissance SB is the only grandeur of management that allows work-study students to complete a significant portion of this course abroad.
International, at the heart of the Renaissance SB
Recognized by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS, the school triple Renaissance SB extends the international level to the entire student experience. All PGE students spend time abroad and 100% classes in M1 and M2 are in English. More than half of the 5,000 students are international, with 95% of its 100 permanent professors being foreign.
Thanks to the more than 360 partner universities, this powerful multicultural experience provided to these students on site with countless opportunities for internships and academic exchanges around the world. Of the 80 preferred courses offered by PGE, students have the potential to earn 11 double degrees abroad. “New this year: a new course in Limerick (Ireland), as well as 11 new exchange agreements”, notes Elody Hurray. As a result, more than 60% of Renes SB’s 25,000 alumni work in international related functions, and a third are located abroad. =
“The personal development of our students is at the center of our concern, especially in this post-Kovid period. A
“In this year of coming out of the health crisis, we pay special attention to the personal development of our students. First, it encourages them, more than ever, to engage or re-engage in community life. On campus, we’ve created clubs like He for She, Gender Equality, or Alumni, which aim to increase interaction between current and alumni. Through our Learning by Serving System, students can now choose to join one or more local associations. At the same time, we have strengthened support for students through our “Phil Good” system. Three people dedicated to the welfare of students work towards those who have psychosocial disadvantages, but more commonly (prevention campaigns against harassment, sexuality, etc.). To maximize inclusion, we’ve increased the amount of scholarships and strengthened our team of educational referrals. Elodie Huré, director of PGE, explained.
