The Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II: What is it and how will it be celebrated?

The United Kingdom celebrates a four-day holiday in June as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

In February, the queen became Britain’s longest-serving king and the first person to ascend the throne at the age of 70.

Queen Elizabeth II has been the head of state of the United Kingdom since 1952, when her father, King George VI, died. He is also the head of state of 15 Commonwealth countries, including Canada, Australia and Jamaica.
