In “The Factory of the Transgender Child” (1), you highlight the “unprecedented explosion of gender reassignment requests among children and adolescents in the United States and Europe.” What statistics are these claims based on?
In England, the United States, Canada, and Australia, curves are formed in all studies that increase rapidly. Starting from very low, however, we cannot reach very high figures, but it increases from 1,000% to 4,000% which is worrying. And, with a few years delay, the incident comes to France.
So has the word “epidemic” been used in your book?
If I’m not mistaken, we’re not talking about an epidemic (the term has been well used by one of their conversationalists, page 40, ed). Among adolescent girls, we can talk about peer infection when several students in the same class declare themselves “trans” at the same time.
This teenager, who are they? Have a general profile?
These young men are mainly 13 to 17 year old girls, whereas before boys were in the majority. For various reasons, they are suffering and looking for an identity.
How would you explain this “index” increase?
On social networks (TikTok, Snapchat…), these young people are looking for answers to their discomfort. They find influential people there who reveal their transitions, push for their self-diagnosis, and refer them to pro-trans sites. They get advice on how to talk to their parents. For example, to make sure that they have experienced trance since childhood, they will commit suicide if their parents do not follow them. They also find the names of complacent doctors, such as the notation: “In one session, you have a certificate”, “In two sessions, you have hormones”. Captivity times have significantly increased the density of these social networks.
On social networks, they became popular and became heroic
Isn’t that freedom of speech? Because, as child psychiatrist Jean Chamberlain explained in “L’Express” in October 2021: “In the past, there was no place for these teenagers to talk”. From now on, their special advice can be mentioned.
So far, teenagers have been fucked? The response they gave has changed: on social networks, they became popular and heroic. In the family, it’s a big push, but some parents pursue the best goals in the world. For physicians (not all), they respond to this request “with”, that is, with medical advice.
You have portrayed overwhelmed parents, I have quoted, “Mothers are reciting LGBT religion” and somewhat passive fathers. What should their own position be? Couldn’t a passage be the solution to their child’s illness?
Advising parents and criticizing them is no less important to me. However, it is advisable to inform them. Did they know that sincerely supporting social change is a form of conditioning that makes it difficult to change one’s mind? On the other hand, when parents keep in touch with the teenager, but do not fully agree with what he or she says, this leaves him or her with the possibility of expressing his or her disagreement, which does not give him or her 100% promise. Has their consent for treatment really been communicated? Is there any other situation when a young person who wants to make a lifelong decision is not asked to reflect?
The answer is no. The main problem with this circular is to mix the fight against discrimination, which is quite commendable and must be in school, and for such a student is likely to change his first name at his request. Social transformation is not trivial and should be detached from the reflection of the fight against all forms of discrimination, which is more complicated to practice than branding like a banner.
Circular or not, changing your first name on request is invalid
How should national education respond to these children?
I have no education to give to national education. But I think a certain indifference would be quite welcome. Circular or not, it is invalid to change your first name on request: you cannot take the test under “selected” identity. I can’t see why the school is not obeying the law.
Comparing himself to Dr. Menguel, িক Jammu Eric Practice insulting and disrespecting yourself.
He added lies and caricatures. The circular I signed does not fall into the category of failure he has condemned.
It is designed to protect each of our students.
Let’s find a worthy debate. https://t.co/oMu8iHqt0k
– Jean-Michel Blancer (mbjmblanquer) October 7, 2021
Eric Jemore also criticized the circular, calling former presidential candidate Jean-Michel Blanker a “lobby toy.” Does that bother you?
We know that many people of all political persuasions agree with us. Let them say it! Because with transphobia allegations there is a way to assimilate us to the extreme right, to intimidate and to stop the debate.
In your opinion, is France too authorized?
The guidelines applied by physicians in France have been copied from international or rather international guidelines, especially American and Dutch. But they are changing, especially in Sweden, where hormone prescriptions for psychotherapeutic treatment are much more closely monitored. In France, the Academy of Medicine has issued an opinion with “caution” advice and, in the coming months, higher authorities for health are likely to issue guidelines (1).
Céline Masson, your co-author, what do you think?
In the case of minors, something should not be done that is irreversible. Some claim that the effects of puberty blockers are reversible, which is not entirely true. What’s more, it’s a highway that leads to hormonal prescriptions. Surgical operation (removal of the breast or testicles) is a sexual perversion. These are not prohibited for minors and, contrary to what some say, are performed before the age of 18 (as reported by Dr. Picard and Simon Jutant, only breast procedures are performed, the editor notes). So we should wait, certainly not without doing something, because it is not only teenagers who are not doing well, but who have more than 50% proven mental predisposition. But a young adult decides to make a conversion, that I have no problem with!
Yes, we saw a small group of young people coming, quite excited with a megaphone. The goal was that this conference could not happen. So we moved on. It was quite violent: we were called “murderers” and “transphobuses”.
Is dialogue with the LGBTQI + community impossible?
In Geneva, they absolutely did not want to have a dialogue. But adults do not show interest in us, in the sense that they do what they think. Our concerns are children and adolescents. In this regard, I think our position is defensible.
It must be said that you are running the red ball on the LGBTQI + community: you are talking about “communal influence”, “emotional impact through the internet and social networks” … what has upset it.
This certainly annoys transsexuals, a minority but very noisy. But, again, if it is an adult, we have nothing to say. But those young people, who are easily affected by the bad about themselves, employ themselves through social networks, reject their parents, even file complaints against them or threaten suicide if they do not agree to their demands, which creates problems for them. Us. LGBT people are divided on this and some of them agree with us on minor issues.
Your book certainly didn’t please some of your colleagues, did it? Thus, you wrote: “Today, to be able to do this, it is enough to want to change sex with a blank check in the medical profession”.
In large Parisian services, some exercise quite well, taking these teenagers for a long time. Others are less cautious. They are taking huge risks as more and more parents are going to file complaints. We talked about a health scandal. In the United States, a legal scandal is unfolding.
Detractors are identified as traitors due to LGBT, harassment
What can we say about these people who decide to engage in a change? How many are they? Are they living?
Rather, they hide. However, some of them, especially those who want to relocate to Belgium, the United States and Canada, have opened the site to welcome them. Currently, they are estimated at between 10% and 20%, but this is an estimate that needs to be verified by long-term research. Again, these are mostly girls. And there is a difference between “disasters”, those who give up or interrupt all treatments quickly, and “blockers” who go further. Because of LGBT they are called traitors, harassed. It is very difficult for them to express themselves, to return to the services they feel they have been abused.
1. When contacted, HAS informs us that “the organization of the path of change is in progress”. But this is only at the beginning, at the “pre-framing stage”.
