Le Salle International Academy: A unique and famous school

On the eve of the great Pentecost weekend (Editor’s note: Friday, June 3)Ch Sainteau de Sallay, in Saincaize-Meauce, looks almost like a holiday camp.

This is a day off for the students of Le Salle International Academy.

Arriving just a few days ago, this session has 26 students, at the college level, for three weeks of lessons. After that two months online study will be done.

This is the fourth and final period of their face-to-face lessons for this somewhat unusual school year. In small groups, some play rugby, others try their hand at zip-lining in the park, adults in the lounge in front of their computers. Their ages range from 10 to 15 years. Yana, originally from Spain, told us she was happy: “She wants to spend my life on this campus ?! (I want to spend my whole life on this campus) ”.

Max, from Boston, one of the students with the highest intellectual potential, takes advantage of this leisure time to feed the student logbook Le Sallay Times.

There is no doubt that this Le Salle International Academy is much more than a school.

Director Anna Kadiva summarizes the mental state of this international school in a few words where proficiency in English is required: “You see, our students know how to be independent. If you can’t adapt to young people, why do you want to study ?? We see the academy as an innovative educational institution that emphasizes personalized and inclusive education. This helps to bring a higher level of inspiration and, therefore, allows for faster progress. A

Le Salle Academy is based on a mixed learning model. Each term begins with a three-week face-to-face class, followed by two months of interactive online study. Thus the wire between the student and the teacher is not cut.

Students are divided into smaller classes according to level: Guaranteed mental well-being and complete immersion. The teacher-to-student ratio varies (whether online or face-to-face). It ranges from individual classes to small groups, up to six students.

Here, each student has the opportunity to learn according to their speed, ability and difficulty.

The school program includes various subjects such as mathematics, science and physics; Chemistry; Biology ?; History and geography ?; Literature and English ?; French and Spanish.

Olga Bailey, a Spanish teacher and originally from Russia, has been teaching at the academy since it opened. The teacher, including the perfect Frenchman, gave us a key to the way of teaching in this school: “Here, every student has the opportunity to learn according to their speed, their abilities and their difficulties. We learn from the language level. It has the huge advantage of not being limited to formal classes. A

New owner and new course for Chateau-Hôtel Le Sallay

According to him, there are no “bad students”: “Everyone learns differently. Smaller groups allow us to better understand how students are improving. Since January, there is a student whom I take to class on my own. She is no longer tense about the class. What good is a web site if it simply “blends in” with everything else out there ?! “

Special courses are envisioned that combine two subjects such as, for example ?; History and language, science and literature.

He also points to a perfect combination of course and interdisciplinary links, “co-teaching”. Special courses are envisioned that combine two subjects such as, for example ?; History and language, science and literature … “To give you a specific example, we worked on science in Spain during the investigation. They learn everything in Spanish. It was a fairly high level class. The kids asked me to do the same course. Is there great excitement in them ?! Along with the English teacher, we also did theater in Spanish and English. A

For teachers, this inclusion makes it possible to have an excellent interaction with students. The afternoons are dedicated to the workshop.

“I run a porcelain painting workshop. It is not important for students to see us as just a teacher. This particular model is very transverse. We accept students as a whole … ”, concludes Olga Bailey.

Budget. About your child’s registration budget for the year, it takes about 35,000 euros. “80% of our students benefit from scholarships. Some even have 100% scholarships and so there is nothing to pay. If a child wants to join us, please contact us. We will do everything we can to find a solution, ”said the director of the academy.
