Summer vacation is coming and so is car travel to get to your vacation destination. But to prevent the heir from rebuilding the seat, how do we do it?
Imetophobes, I understand you. Having a phobia of throwing and having children is the worst thing in the world (at least). Moreover, these little things have a tendency to return the contents of their stomachs to fraudsters for anything and everything, completely immediately and without prior warning.
And baby + car = vomiting everywhere, much more often. So yes, the legend says that not all children are affected, some parents, who are considered as unicorns in the sweet world of fatherhood, must not delete gastric contents several times per trip, sometimes in the face of urgency of the situation, using their hands to collect valuable drinks. As a cup for (I’m annoyed to write these lines myself, believe me).
To save you some trouble this next holiday, I’ve dedicated myself (yes, it’s altruistic) to give you the strategies I’ve been able to test and approve (or not) since I have a 6-year-old child who Acute motion sickness that can make him sick even with a swing.
For some children, simple strategies work. For others, unfortunately, you have to bear your hardships patiently until you take them on vacation near their 18th birthday. Fortunately, we are in the same boat (and we are also at sea).
1 – Open the window
So, for this, it should not be minus 7 degrees outside, otherwise you have to choose between ” Which is less bad: vomiting or bronchitis? “If the weather is mild and the child begins to show a desire for decoration in the passenger carriage, you can open the windows and make a good draft for him to breathe a sigh of relief. Usually, it is a bit quiet. If it does not work, stop if possible,” And let him take a break outside to renew his oxygen a bit and calm his stomach.
2 – Acupuncture Bracelet
These little fabric bracelets that will press on acupressure points never worked on my daughter, but it reassures her that they are magic bracelets. But I admit, I don’t want to break the myth, even though he vomited at the first turn and proved many times that it didn’t work on him.
3 – Plaster on the navel
Just as effective as homeopathy, the legend of plaster stuck in the navel to calm nausea can work as long as you believe. But who believes?
4 – Roll while the baby is sleeping
The solution that helps a lot is to ride during sleep. I have never heard of a child getting motion sickness when he hit his little dodo in his car seat. Try to harmonize with his sleep times and pray that he sleeps a long time.
5 – Essential oils
Lemon and mint, this magical (and fragrant) combo. At the same time be careful, the use of essential oils must be well regulated and they should not be used on children under 3 years of age (and never pure, directly on the skin). Once we know this, my strategy is to mix it up a bit Lemon EO and a little Put mint essential oil in a bottle containing sweet almond oil, and a few drops on his wrist. When he was feeling nauseous, he sniffed his skin and it got better. But unfortunately, this technique only lasted for a while, as he now equates the smell of this oil with the smell of the car, and it just makes him knock by sniffing them.
6 – Give him food
If we think that the baby will not vomit because the stomach is empty, then it is wrong. Of course, the content will be less, but it is more painful to vomit, thank you bile. The strategy is that you need to find a happy means: if it is a departure in the morning, you avoid giving the baby a bowl of milk, you can give him fruit or biscuits, history has something in his stomach. While traveling, as surprising as it may seem, giving him small cookies from time to time or even a lollipop (or candy) can calm the nausea. Cavity, yes, but vomit, no.
7 – Change his mind
This is something that can be a little difficult for parents who do not drive, but it can prevent the child from concentrating on their nausea. The strategy is to force him to think of something else, invent games, turn around for a thumbs up fight, a rock-paper-scissors, a “what are you looking at …”, a game that makes the child. Look for objects or animals outside the passenger carriage. Example: “You see … a red tractor? And Presto, the kid is looking for a red tractor. Yeah, it’s not complicated, we never said we worked on board games, huh.”
8 – Set a point on the horizon
Once the child is a little older, you can explain to him how the highway code works, tell him to recognize the signs, tell him to focus on the car in the far, far front to force him to concentrate on a distance. Points, which will help him calm his nausea. Fixing a point on the horizon is actually one of the only techniques to work, but it is sometimes difficult for someone who has the ability to concentrate a cake pan to hold it.
9 – Medicine, when you have to go, you have to go
After a while, when nothing works and you want to travel without nausea and vomiting, there are drug solutions available at pharmacies. We tested Nausicalm, without success, we ended up setting our sights on Nautamine, which currently saves all our departures on vacation. Okay, it puts him in some gas, but at least he puts less pressure on her to vomit and relaxes a bit (and ours too). Okay, since this is a medicine, be sure to consult your pharmacist or doctor.
Whatever it is, don’t forget to bring with you a basin or vomit bag, a towel, a cotton ball with cleansing milk, baby wash and odor removal, as well as one or two extra changes with you. .
I hope these tips will help you make the journey without the smell of mustard parmesan cheese, and you will reach your destination more quietly without bleaching your entire car when you arrive.
