Endress+Hauser continues to grow. Over the past five years, the number of employees at the Reinach site in Switzerland has grown by 20% to more than 2,000. At the same time, the number of units produced has increased significantly and the portfolio of digital solutions has expanded. In order to meet the new requirements of working environment, vocational training and simultaneous digitization, the measurement and automation technology specialist Reinch has invested 60 million Swiss francs in the campus. Endress+Hauser thus celebrated the opening of the approximately 150 meter long building in Reinach on July 1st. The new facility, which covers more than 25,000 square meters of space, the equivalent of about four football fields, was built with about 19,000 cubic meters of concrete and 2,200 tons of reinforced steel and other materials.

The new building houses Endress+Hauser Flow, the product center for flow measurement technology, as well as Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions, which is responsible within the group for all aspects of communication and automation solutions. Digital.

Meet a constant demand for high quality materials and solutions

With this new building, Endress+Hauser responds to the continuous demand for high-quality materials and solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) environment in the process industry. Liquids and gases must always be monitored, measured and controlled with great precision. This is driven by, among other things, increasingly stringent government regulations and increasing demands for quality and environmental protection worldwide. “Endress+Hauser Flow has responded to this development, expanding its portfolio and doubling the number of units produced over the past decade. This results in continuous expansion of production capacity and creation of additional employment.

Learning environments conducive to learning For Endress+Hauser, laying the foundations for the future means investing in the people of tomorrow. The new building puts training and education at the heart of the operation and provides ample space for learning-friendly spaces including workshops, laboratories and training rooms, thereby increasing the number of on-the-job learning and professional careers.

Sustainable energy concept

Endress+Hauser uses the new building to more closely align its continued business growth with its environmental and social responsibilities. In view of the Endress+Hauser Flow sustainability strategy’s goal to operate its buildings in Reinach in a CO2-neutral manner by 2030, climate-friendly facility management is of utmost importance. As part of the energy concept, for example, waste heat is stored in a stratified storage tank for hot water and then used for heating. A comprehensive energy monitoring system using instruments from the company’s own portfolio helps to continuously optimize building operations. Large photovoltaic systems have been installed on the roof of the new building, providing a maximum capacity of 365 kilowatts, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 75 single-family homes. In Reinach, Endress+Hauser now has more than 3,700 square meters of photovoltaic installations with a total peak capacity of around 1 MW, making the company one of the largest solar power producers in the Basel region. On the roof there are two bee colonies and various bee-friendly flowers, a project that contributes to biodiversity conservation as these small insects are considered the most important plant pollinators in Central Europe.
