Cité de l’espace unveils its summer program with events and late-night openings

Cité de l’Espace, a European reference site for promoting the culture of space and astronomy to the general public, unveils its summer program. With extended hours and night opening until 11 p.m., visitors will be able to discover the various offers of the Cité de l’espace (exhibitions, events, shows, films) including “Actualment dans l’ISS”, in the Carré de l’news, which is international Highlights European astronauts aboard the Space Station (ISS).

Young and old will also be able to meet the Martian robots that explore Mars by participating in the immersive animation “The Rovers Enter the Scene” in the brand new Martian terrain. Nighttime: Take advantage of the long summer evenings for space exploration

Every Thursday, from July 14 to August 18, 2022, as well as Tuesdays August 2, 9 and 16, 2022, the Cité de l’espace opens its doors at night and welcomes the public continuously from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Visitors will be able to discover all the Cité de l’Espace has to offer (exhibitions, workshops, shows, films, events) and take advantage of unique highlights such as observing the sky through a telescope, the illumination of the garden and an unprecedented event. Starry Night: An evening dedicated to sky observation on the theme of exploration

Friday, August 5, 2022, Cité de l’espace invites the public to attend a night of stars. Started in 1991 by the Association Française d’Astronomie, this event offers all those interested in observing the stars, constellations, planets and other astronomical phenomena in various locations in France. For this new edition, the Cité de l’Espace invites visitors, from 7pm to midnight, for an evening in the heart of its gardens.

To enable visitors to understand the challenges of exploring Mars, Cité de l’Espace invites young and old to an immersive experience by participating in the animation “The Rovers Enter the Scene” in the new Martian terrain. At the heart of an amphitheater with more than 250 seats, in a reconstruction of a real Martian crater, the Cité de l’Espace offers an innovative staging around two animated life-size replicas of the Martian rovers, currently operating on Mars, Perseverance (NASA) and Zhurong (China).
