Audiences mourned the film’s loss of one of its best actresses

Les Visiteurs, Jean-Marie Poiré’s film, is one of the greatest classics of French cinema. Many copies have become cult, and the supporting roles are known as the main actors. However, Objeko brings you sad news. The cast of the film has lost one more member. We invite you to discover more about this actress with a remarkable career.

The Visitors, the film of an entire generation

Don’t remember Jean-Marie Poiré’s film Les Visiteurs? Released in 1993, the French blockbuster topped the French box office and later video rentals. All ingredients were there to make this film a success. Jean Reno and Christian Clavier, both at the height of their fame, portray the iconic protagonists, Godefroy de Montmirail, and his servant Jacqueline La Fripoile. In the secondary characters, we see in the foreground Valérie Lemercier, Marie-Anne Chazelle as well as Christian Bouzeau. Very nice people for the time!

Jean-Marie Poiré, who directed the excellent Father Christmas is a Garbage, found himself making 50 million francs, or about 11 million euros when inflation is taken into account, for The Visitors.

The film also had several sequels. Les Visiters 2 was a huge success with the French public. The third part, In America, was however a huge critical and commercial flop. The fourth part, set during the revolution, was also a colossal flop, definitively burying the franchise. Despite everything, the first two films left a sweet memory with the audience, classifying them in the pantheon of French comedies.

The film has already struck through grief three times

Visitors came out about 30 years ago. Since then, actors have taken many years, and are therefore middle-aged for the most part. Three actors of the film have already left us.

François Lalande was the first actor to bow in the film Visitors. The legendary actor portrays Father Harvey, a supporting role for the actor who rubbed shoulders with the greatest. François Lalande died on September 1, 2020 at the age of 89.

Then it was the turn of Theophile Sovier to leave us. The actor had only a small role, but he made an impression. This postman is being attacked by Godefroy and Jacqueline. His very brief introduction was so symbolic that he was present in the second part of the audience. Theophile Sovi died on April 7, 2021 at the age of 61.

Finally, that same year, Thierry Liagre died. This one played Courtepail’s cook who challenges Lady Jeanette and whom Godefroy sends to decorate. The actor of the prestigious supporting role died on Tuesday, August 17 at the age of 68.
